Working in the Design Engineering group, this individual will provide mechanical design and detailing for electronic power supply and Telecom power and controller/system design projects. He/she will work with the Documentation Control group to prepare the documentation package, to include bills of materials, assembly and reference drawings, and various piece part mechanical drawings. The engineer will also analyze problems and generate engineering change orders to support existing product and solve customer problems on an as-needed basis.

1. Must be capable of overall electronic packaging for high-density electronic power assemblies and products.  Should be familiar and comfortable with all aspects of electro-mechanical packaging and design, including DFM, cost-sensitivity, and use of standard metals, fasteners, machining techniques, and tooling’s. Ability to perform stress and thermal analysis is very desirable. He/she will also need to generate customer drawings to describe product outline and mounting characteristics and tolerances.
2. Experience with power electronics is highly desirable.  This would include airflow and thermal design using a variety of heatsinks and heat transfer techniques, PCB outline drawings and mounting techniques, high-current connections, to include hot-swap connectors as well as cabling and individual wire terminations.  A working knowledge of mechanical and PCB design to satisfy UL and international safety standards is desired.
3. This individual will be asked to develop design process within Unipower that incorporates modern 3-D CAD tools.  Expertise in at least one industry-leading (PRO-E, Solid Edge, INVENTOR, etc) 3-D tool is required.
4. As a team member of the Design Engineering group, this person will also be expected to provide support to the manufacturing and purchasing groups, as required, to facilitate the introduction of new products, as well as to support existing products on an ‘as-required’ basis.

The applicant should have as a minimum an Associate degree in an applicable area, and at least 8 years design experience in a high-tech electronic products development capacity.
